Option 1: My Tho – Ben Tre
Am: At 8.00 am, our guide and driver welcome you at hotel. Today you will leave Ho Chi Minh for My Tho Province and have a smooth one-and-half-hour drive through beautiful rice field scenery along Trung Luong Express Highway. On arrival, you will visit Vinh Trang pagoda, the greatest pagoda of My Tho city, Tien Giang Province. About 1km from the city center, this pagoda is an ancient southern architectural gem. The beautiful architecture of it is a harmonious combination of Asian and European types of architecture. Continue to take a boat along Tien river to explore Delta region. You will have chance to see the famous islands here with Phoenix, Unicorn, Dragon and Tortoise islands. Process cruising along the river to see the stilt houses, fruit plantations and fishing villages. Then stop at one of islets for lunch in an orchard garden.
Pm: After lunch, you will enjoy a boat ride through natural canal in Ben Tre, cruising on a hand-rowed sampan under the shadow of the water coconut trees along natural canals. Next, visit a family business which epitomizes the idyllic rural lifestyle, taste the delicious coconut candy and know more of their daily life. Especially, you’ll get a real sense of the charm and tranquility of the area when enjoying seasonal fruit, honey tea and “Southern Vietnamese folk music” performed by the locals. A horse-drawn carriage is also an interesting experience that you shouldn’t miss before leaving this area. Finish your trip, the driver takes you to return to Ho Chi Minh City. Drop you off at your hotel.
Option 2: Cai Be – Tien Giang
Am: At 6.30 am, our guide and driver will welcome you at hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and transfer you to Cai Be. On the road, you will have chance to survey the beautiful rice field scenery along Trung Luong Express Highway. On arrival in Cai Be, you will set off by boat to visit the Cai Be floating market and watch the locals trading fruit and many other commodities on board their vessels. Ramble in small villages where you will uncover the beauty of Ba Kiet ancient house and get to know about the indigenous culture. Next, pay a short visit at a small family business to see how coconut candy and crispy rice popcorn are made. Savor delicious fresh fruit and feel slow rhythms of traditional southern Vietnamese folk music – a kind of music entwined with the life and culture of the Mekong Delta people. Then, you keep cruising through series of small canals to experience the charms of the Upper Mekong Delta and immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature when arriving Tan Phong Island. Enjoy lunch with the luscious food and have chance to learn how to prepare Vietnamese specialties. The meal is cooked by your own and served in the heart of the local garden.
Pm: After lunch, you will take a biking tour along the small villages to visit the orchards and have some short stops to meet local people who help you understand more about the daily life in the Mekong Delta. Then get back to the dock, our guide and driver will transfer you back Ho Chi Minh city, drop you off at your hotel.
