Itinerary in brief:

Day 1: Hue – A Luoi – Hamburger Hill. Overnight in A Luoi (L D)

Day 2: A Luoi – DMZ – Hue ~ 330 km (B L)


Day 1: Hue – A Luoi – Hamburger Hill ~ 70 km (LD)

Am: Depart at your hotel in Hue at 8.00 am, you will be transferred to A Luoi about 70 km. Along the way from Hue to A Luoi you can see natural beauty and minority people in Highland Mountain as well as minority group. It takes you about 2 hours for arriving A Luoi on the concrete road circle around mountains and forests. The first impression for tourists is the neglected natural scenery, which existed beside a long time with the old forests, partitions of mountain, deep chasm and the pure stream flowing around the whirlpool. After having a short rest, you start to visit a well-known military site in the war between America and Vietnam – Hamburger Hill (nickname 937 Hill) by trekking. The driver will drive you to the foot of the Hill, after that you trek systematically to the top of the hill for enjoyment and discovering. From the top of this hill, you can see the whole sight of the airport and the combat base. Back to A Luoi Centre and have lunch at local restaurant.

Pm: In the afternoon, you will discover A Luoi town and daily life of Ta Oi ethnic with their traditional handicraft village such as weaving, textile… in Aka Chi village to witness how the women weaving their dresses or even admire the way they threading yarns on looms with their best tenacious efforts. This meticulous activities created unique products, that is beautiful dresses they wear when plough virgin land or in the special occasions. As well, learn more about their agriculture growing in the mountain area with primitive instruments and the “Gui”, a unique kink of bag, on their backs working on the fields. You have chance to relax at A Roang Hot Spring for more leisure and trek to A Roang forest to have more exploration of the biology variety in Green Corridor. You will exchange cultural community and enjoy the traditional music show of tribe people of Ta Oi with camping fire at stilt house in Aka Chi Village. Have dinner at stilt house. Overnight at stilt house.

Day 2: A Luoi – DMZ – Hue ~ 330 km (BL)

Am: You get up early in this morning to experience the activities and morning life of local people as well as enjoy the fresh air in the mountain area. Back to A Luoi centre, you have a walking around local market to experiences of daily life of local people. Have breakfast at restaurant. Then you leave A Luoi for DMZ on Ho Chi Minh Trail for visiting Dakrong Bridge, the starting point of Highway 15, one of the main branches of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, which leads south to the A Shau valley and the famous "Hamburger Hill", across over Thanh Han River. Ho Chi Minh Trail is very famous in the war of Vietnam army, so you can admire the green and imposing of forest along this trail. This is an opportunity for you to meet and via ethnic people in the highlight of Viet Nam Central like Ka Tu, Van Kieu, Paco in their villages to know about their customs and ways of living. Then go around visiting Khe Sanh combat base – one of the most famous sieges of American Vietnamese War, and was the site of a United State base that fell under attack in early 1968. You see the old airfield of red dirt stills remain. Enter to the museum of Ta Con airport to see the things in nature of the fierce war, and how hard Quang Tri people fight against the enemy! Reach to the Rock pile described as 230 high-piles of rocks, an observation point of US Troops in the pass. Coming to this place, tourists would see a vast mountain standing on an unequaled position. Have lunch at restaurant in Dong Ha.

Pm: In the afternoon, the DMZ tour will take you back to the war sites including Hien Luong bridge, crosses the Ben Hai River at the middle of the DMZ and marks the former border between North and South Vietnam from 1954 to 1972 where exist Museum, Ben Hai river, the 17th Parallel. Vinh Moc tunnels – a network of tunnels built by villagers seeking shelter from bombings during the Vietnam War, and here is the place where an entire village lived for two and a half years. Visiting these tunnels, you can see and admire the specialty of Vietnamese people in the war, in this complex grew to including wells, kitchens, and rooms for each family and spaces for healthcare. After that enjoy at Cua Tung beach before coming back to Hue about 6 pm. Tour ends at your hotel.
