Day 1: Cycling to Thuy Bieu village – Learning fishing at Chuon lagoon. O/n at homestay
AM: Our guide and driver welcome you at your hotel in Hue city or Hue Train Station and transfer to Thuy Bieu Village, take a short rest before starting cycling tour to discover the beauty of Thuy Bieu. This village has long famous for its mild sweet Thanh Tra, a special kind of pomelo which boasts refined fragrance and green skin, local name is Thanh Tra. Coming here, you will feel comfortable in a peaceful atmosphere of the local life. While biking, you can take the short stop in communal houses, ancient temples, local market and walk along the shady, peaceful paths to enjoy the green, peaceful sights of the village’s gardens. Especially, you will have chance to see a traditional incense making house where you can get to know how incense sticks are made for using. Then visit families which make traditional silk paiting & votive articles for more experience. This is an opportunity for you to communicate with local people and know more of daily life. Then spend time to prepare your lunch at a local family. An interesting way to learn Vietnamese daily dishes is to take part in cooking with the host. Enjoy your lunch after your great effort.
PM: After lunch, check in your homestay to relax and refresh yourself. At 3pm our guide and driver pick up you and transfer to Chuon lagoon. Once arrive, you will make boat trip on the pure water to enjoy the fresh atmosphere, learn how to toss fishing net in the old local methods and experience working life of fishermen in this area. Then catch the most perpect moment on the lagoon are at sunset when the sky start to change colors which makes for a truly spectacular setting. Have seafood dinner and get a feeling of lagoon in such beautiful surroundings. Back your homestay for overnight.
Day 2: Discover rural life in Thanh Toan village
AM: Get up early to enjoy fresh air and feel the sounds of nature in the village. Have breakfast at your homestay. Then start pendaling along the road across green paddy fields to Thanh Toan village which is 8 km from the city center. On arrival, you will take a visit at famous Thanh Toan tile-roofed Bridge which is known as one of the ancient bridges with unique architectural styles in Vietnam. You will listen to the story about the person who built the bridge and its historical and cultural significance to local’s life. Visit a nearby argicultural museum which displays Vietnamese farming tools and the local market where you can get a glimpse of real life in this rural village. Next, you will continue to cycle to handicralf villages for getting the deep insight of daily rural life here. Visit a local family who make conical hat, the traditional craft in Hue to know how to made this product. To create a conical hat, the villager need a bamboo frame and young palm leaves with a long making process of making including preparing materials, bending bamboo splints into rims,making the frame, ironing the leaves, sewing and decorating. All require the carefulness and skillfulness of artisan. Then you stroll in the village and stop at a local rice-growing family who make “Banh Tet”, a special sticky-rice cake. This is an indispensable cake of each Vietnam family and thousands of years became a symbol of Vietnamese New Year (Tet holiday), the biggest and most important holiday in Vietnam. Come here, you can have chance to taste it, see how to make it and learn more about Vietnamese tradition as well as daily activities of locals. Back to city center for having lunch.
